About Penquite Farm

Penquite is a 150 acre organic farm with 40 suckler cows and their calves. The majority of the calving normally takes place between March and May so come and experience and see for yourselves a new born calf.

We also grow arable crops which are mainly grown to feed to the animals.

You may wish to bring your boots so you can enjoy the circular walk over the farm offering breathtaking views of the river, wildlife and open countryside. This also includes part of the Saints Way, an ancient path that stretches nearly 30 miles and lies between Fowey on the south and Padstow on the north Cornwall coast. It's certainly a challenge for good walkers, but don't worry, there are less strenuous walks - after all, you are on holiday!

We have a beautiful Springer spaniel dog called 'Jerry' Springer who loves plenty of attention and is good with the children, but don’t leave your ball around or he will run off with it - he won’t bring it back but he will drop it if bribed.

Nestling beside the farm is the beautiful 13th Century Church dedicated to St Sampson with its holy well. This is certainly well worth a visit and services are held every Sunday.

Just a short 5 minute stroll takes you down to the village which has the Fisherman's Arms that serves good food and ale and has a traditional Cornish welcoming atmosphere. There is also an art gallery and a children's play area, or you might like to go crabbing off the pier.
Please visit our Golant website: www.golant.net

We have our friendly farm animals that the children can help feed daily, and they can also collect the eggs. This is just so popular, with that hands on experience and freedom to run and play, it leaves them with such long and lasting memories.

The games room is also very popular with table tennis, a pool table and an old computer for games.

We are very conscious nowadays of green tourism and caring for Cornwall. We try and minimise waste and water usage as much as we can. There are recycling facilities for paper, cardboard, plastic, bottles and cans. Any food waste is recycled back to our animals, the two pigs and the chickens and goat - nothing, as you can imagine, goes to waste.

Christmas & New Year

Come and join us here at Penquite for the perfect relaxing Christmas and New Year festivities.

Christmas includes one of our home reared, free range turkeys, a real Xmas tree and decorations, and some local goodies plus a cream tea and mince pies on arrival.

The New Year celebrations include a bottle of Champagne, and a hamper of local goodies. There will also be a cream tea or mince pies on arrival.

Come and join us for a good sing song in the beautifully decorated Church on Christmas Eve for the traditional carol service held by candlelight and a festive glass of mulled wine. It really is quite something. You can even try your hand at bell ringing – come on, give it a go.

Spring & Winter Breaks

Come and enjoy Cornwall in the Spring or Winter for a short break, a time to relax and indulge yourself with a few days away to recharge those batteries and feel refreshed and revived again. Time to put your feet up and read the paper (a paper can be ordered and delivered to your door), perhaps a good book, a stroll along the beach and footpaths - there is still plenty to do even at this time of the year. The winters are mild and the spring is always bursting with new growth and colour.

Breaks can be taken from November to Easter (excluding Christmas, New Year and February half term). We are very flexible and can start and finish any day of the week.
